Lipitor (atorvastatin) is prescribed to lower cholesterol and triglycerides in
blood.  It acts by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme involved in the
synthesis of cholesterol in the body.  The reduction in cholesterol and
triglycerides help prevent strokes and heart attacks.

Lipitor is an oral medication usually once daily with or without food, or as
directed by your doctor.
